Abstract
This collection includes two unbound scrapbooks of materials documenting the activities of the Greenpoint YMCA Congress Alumni during the period 1895 to 1958. Materials include tickets, photographs, news clippings, lists of members, programs, and menus.
Historical note
The Greenpoint YMCA was organized in 1885 and moved to a permanent building at 224-226 Manhattan Avenue in 1889. From 1894 to 1898, the Greenpoint YMCA organized a Congress where students, assigned to represent a state, received training in public speaking and civic issues. In 1905, former members of the Congress formed the Congress Alumni, which functioned as a civic and social group until 1956.
Arrangement
The loose scrapbook pages are arranged into two folders.
