Abstract
This collection consists of Chandos Fulton's handwritten research notes on the history of Brooklyn newspapers, compiled for his "Local Press of Brooklyn" series of articles in the Brooklyn Standard in 1864. A small amount of correspondence to and from Fulton regarding his research is also included.
Biographical Note
Chandos Fulton (1839-1904) was a Brooklyn journalist who published a series of articles titled "Local Press of Brooklyn" in the Brooklyn Standard from August to December of 1864. He was also the author of The History of the Democratic Party from Thomas Jefferson to Grover Cleveland, among other titles.
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of Chandos Fulton's handwritten research notes on the history of Brooklyn newspapers, compiled for his "Local Press of Brooklyn" series of articles in the Brooklyn Standard in 1864. A small amount of correspondence to and from Fulton regarding his research is also included, including one letter from Fulton written on Long Island Historical Society letterhead and with the return address given as the Society's rooms in the Hamilton building, "Care Dr. Stiles, Librarian."
