Abstract

One handwritten essay describing the development and function of highways in Brooklyn from the time of the Dutch settlements to the early 1800s. The essay is written in a roll book of the Berkley Lawn Tennis Club, with the first several pages torn out. A small amount of loose notes, written on the back of Tennis Club fliers, are filed throughout. The author of the essay is unknown, but the volume contains the inscription "W.S.G., 837 Monroe Street, Brooklyn, L.I." on the inside cover.
