Scope and Contents
The series consists of records pertaining to the JLB's involvement in the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program which provided trained advocates for abused, neglected or abandoned children in the foster care and court system. Materials also pertain to the Children in Placement Project (CIP), the precursor to CASA, a program developed in the Family Court of New York City to monitor placements of children in foster care. Items include project proposals, case notes, correspondence, fundraising and other financial documents, reports and research materials, and publications. Some items in this series contain sensitive information regarding individual cases and confidential information about employees of the program. These records must be handled with discretion.
