Abstract
This collection is comprised of several issues of spanning the period 1978 to 1983. Though incomplete, the collection contains nearly all issues of the magazine published during the aforementioned period. Each issue contains articles and features relating to Brooklyn's history, commercial and residential development, and cultural and social life. The collection is organized chronologically and housed in one manuscript box.
Historical Note
New Brooklyn was a quarterly magazine published by Motivational Communications, Inc. Its first issue was published in the summer of 1978. The magazine's name was inspired by the publisher's aim to reflect Brooklyn's rising reputation as a vibrant center of social, cultural, and commercial diversity, while also paying tribute to Brooklyn's historic legacy. Articles and features spotlighted Brooklyn's neighborhoods, arts and culture scenes, social life, commercial and residential development, and history. New Brooklyn later shifted its focus to Staten Island and was renamed Staten Island Magazine.
