Biographical / Historical
Ken Rush is a painter who balances his time between Brooklyn and Vermont. He has had numerous solo exhibitions since 1985. His work is in the permanent public collections of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Brooklyn Historical Society, The Bennington Museum, and the The SUArt Galleries. Ken has lived in Brooklyn since 1971, and was the upper school visual arts and art history teacher at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights from 1978 to 2015. He is a long term resident of Carroll Gardens where he continues his studio practice.
Smith-9th Streets in one of a dozen subway station paintings created by Rush in 1973 and 1974. It depicts the Smith–Ninth Streets elevated subway platform looking south towards Brooklyn and the Verrazano Bridge.

These photographs were taken in preparation for the painting "Smith-9th Streets," one of a dozen subway station paintings created by Rush in 1973 and 1974. It depicts the Smith–Ninth Streets elevated subway platform looking south towards Brooklyn and the Verrazano Bridge.
