Biographical note
The Van Wycks were an aristocratic family originally from Holland who were a prominent part of New York history. Members of the Van Wyck family served in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and also held both local and national political positions.

The Van Wyck family papers contain four wills and one estate inventory. This branch of the family lived primarily in Huntington, Long Island. The wills are for Theodorus (1844), Elizabeth (1822), Richard (1837), and Abraham (1809) Van Wyck. The inventory is of Abraham's estate.
