Abstract
The Research Institute for the Study of Man (RISM) was incorporated in 1955 to promote research on "human living throughout the world." This collection consists of publications and papers organized geographically and topically.
Historical Note
The Research Institute for the Study of Man (RISM) was established in 1955 as a non-profit organization "to initiate and promote basic scientific research for the development and dissemination of a body of knowledge that can contribute to a better understanding of human living throughout the world." Under Vera Rubin's direction, RISM conducted research and training programs, developed a Library for Caribbean Research, organized academic conferences, provided consultation to social scientists, and supported independent research programs with applied value in the creation of public educational, medical, and social science resources.
