Scope and Contents
This series consists of administrative materials created and collected by NYU's Athletics Department. Materials consist of annual reports (which provide season summaries for each sport), staff photographs and biographical information, correspondence, committee meeting minutes (mostly for early committees such as the Board of Advisers for Women's Athletics and the Undergraduate Athletic Board), enrollment statistics (for both varsity and intramural sports), and a video recording of a student-athlete public service announcement. A large portion of the series relates to the construction of the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in 1981; related materials include architectural blueprints and drawings, photographs, and correspondence regarding community engagement. Also included are chronological files of Albert B. Nixon, the graduate manager of athletics from 1922-1940s, and Esther Foley, the director of the women's athletic program from 1951-1971.
