Abstract

The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aeronautics was established at New York University in 1925 as part of the College of Engineering. This collection contains bound lecture transcripts/papers presented by professors Chi-teh Wang, George Gerard, Harry H. Hilton, and Robert S. Freeman during the Fall 1948 semester seminar on the "Introduction to Applied Plasticity". The collection also contains a circa 1944 memorandum to Hayden Weller from F.K. Teichmann regarding the history of the use of a wind tunnel located at the Guggenheim School of Aeronautics at New York University's College of Engineering.

Historical Note

In 1925, Daniel Guggenheim gifted $500,000 to New York University to establish a School of Aeronautics in connection with the College of Engineering, named the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aeronautics.
