Abstract
The LGBTQ+ Center offers educational and community-focused programs and events throughout the year for NYU students, faculty, staff, and alumni. This collection documents the founding of the LGBTQ Student Center at NYU; its administrative re/organization(s); and events and trainings developed and hosted by the Center and the Office of LGBT Student Services. Materials in this collection include flyers and other ephemera, photographs in both physical and digital format, administrative documents, and publications.
Historical Note
The NYU LGBTQ+ Center creates a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to develop their understanding of and engage with LGBTQ+ communities through programs, events, learning and development, support, consultation, and resource sharing. The Center offers educational and community-focused programs and events throughout the year for NYU students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Conditions Governing Access
Administrative records and unpublished reports of New York University are closed for a period of 20 years from the date of their creation. Access to files spanning multiple years will be opened to researchers based on the date of the most recent materials. Board of Trustees records are closed for 35 years from the date of creation. Materials related to personnel, grievances, job and fellowship searches and applications, and all files that fall under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) are permanently restricted. Additional restrictions may apply to other materials in this collection. For questions regarding specific restrictions, please contact the University Archives. Some materials concerning students questioning their sexuality may warrant further restrictions.

Any rights (including copyright and related rights to publicity and privacy) held by the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Student Services/LGBTQ Student Center are maintained by New York University. Processing Information
At the time of accessioning, materials were rehoused in archival boxes and folders, and described on the collection-level. Born-digital items were identified, physically separated, and inventoried, but have not yet been forensically imaged, analyzed, or described. New York University Libraries follow professional standards and best practices when imaging, ingesting, and processing born-digital material in order to maintain the integrity and authenticity of the content.
