Scope and Contents
Photographs in this series document extracurricular student activities including Greek life, clubs, traditions, campus-wide events, and student government. This series also contains University Heights and Washington Square campus scenes including photographs of buildings, classrooms, and student housing; students congregating in Washington Square Park, students walking around the University Heights campus, studying in NYU buildings like the library; and special events taking place at either campus.
Series XXIV also contains a large number of photographs focused on student protests occurring between 1965-1980. These protests took place either directly on NYU's campus or in the surrounding area. Protest subjects include the Vietnam War, NYU Administration, and Dow Chemical. This series also highlights the diversity of NYU's student body and includes student portraits, photographs of international student organizations, scholar groups, students with disabilities, and minority students.
