Abstract
Marshall Stewart Brown was a professor of political science and history at New York University (NYU) from 1894 to 1940 and the Dean of Faculties from 1917 to 1940. During his tenure as dean, Brown produced his manuscript about the University during World War I. This collection includes Brown's manuscript and correspondence related to his research.
Biographical Note
Marshall Stewart Brown was born in 1870 in Keene, New Hampshire. He studied at Brown University and Heidelberg University. Brown taught English at Brown University and history at the University of Michigan. In 1894 Brown came to New York University, where he served as a professor of history and political science. From 1917 to 1940 he served as the Dean of Faculties. Brown passed away in 1948.
