Scope and Contents note
Series I: Subject File, 1924-1955, is arranged alphabetically by content and contains research notes to various books, articles, and lectures given by Jones, as well as official correspondence and reports Jones wrote in his capacity as Library Director. Included is correspondence for 1931-1946 and research notes on Bronx land ownership [Box 1, folders 5-7], which indicates that Jones was considering a companion piece to his 1923 book Land Ownership in Brookline, Mass. In addition, there are undated research notes of colonial land ownership in White Plains, New York [Box 2, folder 12]. Also of interest is Jones' correspondence with John V. Irwin, NYU class of 1894, who offered a series of comments and corrections to New York University, 1832-1932.
