Abstract
City-As-School is a public high school in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City. Its curricular focus is on experiential learning through internship and built on the idea that all children learn differently. This collection consists of yearbooks, catalogs, anniversary and graduation ceremony programs, and other City-As-School programming materials. One 1978 softcover yearbook contains drawings by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat on three pages. Basquiat's name is listed in the staff directory for the yearbook, and a photograph of his graffiti tag. Some of the programming materials include a scrapbook documenting City-As-School's "Our Adventure in China" (2002); Remembering Fred Koury: A Tribute and Celebration (2010-09); and City-As-Shakespeare pamphlets. This collection also includes one folder of materials created by City-As-School students and faculty during a visit to the New York University Archives. The digital media consists of graduation slideshows, school education programs regarding anti-bullying and safety, and photographs of school events.

About this Guide
Processing Information
At the time of accessioning, materials were described on the collection-level with a container list, but have not been arranged. The digital media (10 DVD-Rs and 7 CD-RWs) is stored separately with a Digital Media Separation Sheet in Box 2. New York University Libraries follow professional standards and best practices when imaging, ingesting, and processing born-digital material in order to maintain the integrity and authenticity of the content.
In 2021, the historical, arrangement, and abstract notes were updated to reflect departmental requirements. The titles for the series were edited, adding "series" and numbers.
In February 2023, an accretion was rehoused in archival boxes and intellectually incorporated into the collection as a separate series.
In February 2025, a new digital object for the processed electronic records was created to conform to current practices.
