Abstract
This collection inculdes John G. Stephenson's patent for the first streetcar, developed in 1831. Stephenson (1809-1893) invented and patented the first streetcar that ran on rails in the United States.
Biographical note
John G. Stephenson (1809-1893) invented and patented the first streetcar that ran on rails in the United States. Stephenson was born in Ireland and emigrated to the United States with his parents in 1811.
